Good morning, Delaware County. Leadership changes don't usually happen on a Saturday, but here we are — Delaware's city manager is officially out the door this weekend, with Assistant City Manager Andy Beare stepping in while the city hunts for a permanent replacement. On the retail front, Kroger just dropped $33 million on a brand-new Delaware location, because apparently the grocery wars are very much alive and well in central Ohio. On a lighter note, mark your calendars for November 6 — the library's Great GeekFest is back for its ninth year, free and fully loaded with cosplay, D&D, and a rogue dinosaur reportedly loose somewhere in the building. Before that, Uptown Friday Nights and winery live music are calling your name this week. Sports scores, Real Estate listings, and more are all inside. ☕️ What's Brewing Locally City moves up Brake’s departure 🏛️ Delaware's city manager is out earlier than expected. The Delaware City Council approved an amended employment agreement on Oct. 6, accelerating City Manager Brake's departure to this Saturday rather than year's end. Assistant City Manager Andy Beare steps in as acting city manager while the city launches a permanent replacement search. Brake's pay and benefits will continue through Dec. 31, the original contract expiration date. The council had voted 5-2 against renewing his contract at a special meeting on Aug. 24.
