Good morning, Athens County. Four major flood events since June, and Athens is still scrambling to catch up. Back-to-back storms dumped up to three inches of rain on Richland Avenue and East State Street, and council members are sounding the alarm — businesses and homes are at risk if a real plan doesn't materialize fast. An Ohio University environmental studies director is set to present flood mitigation proposals at the September 28th council meeting, so that one's worth watching. On the ballot front, Ohio House District 94 has a new candidate making noise on tax fairness and water safety.
Wall Street had a rough go of it — rising Treasury yields rattled the Nasdaq and spooked bond investors. On a brighter note, Big Shrimp hits the Late Show stage October 9th, local sports scores are inside, and fresh listings await.
