Good morning, Cuyahoga County. Let's set the record straight: a stray mark on your ballot won't cost you your vote. Ohio elections officials are pushing back hard on a viral rumor claiming otherwise β so breathe easy, and spread the word before it spreads further. On a milestone worth marking, Cleveland's Domestic Intervention, Education and Training program just hit 20 years of quietly breaking cycles of abuse, with over 5,100 participants completing it since 2010. And in a deeply unsettling story out of Edgewater, a trash collector was stabbed mid-route by a stranger β residents say erratic behavior in the area is a daily reality, and they want action. When you need a palate cleanser, the weekend delivers β a live Ghostbusters orchestra, Halloween crafts, and a Berea craft show are all on deck. Real estate listings and local scores are inside too. βοΈ What's Brewing Locally Cuyahoga County Board of Elections debunks viral ballot rumor ahead of Election Day π³οΈ Ohio elections officials are debunking a viral ballot misinformation rumor. The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections confirmed that ballots are NOT automatically disqualified if a poll worker writes on them. The rumor, spreading through social media and text messages, falsely urged voters to demand new ballots if they spotted any writing or marks. Officials clarified that poll workers aren't trained to write on ballots, and a stray mark alone won't invalidate a vote. If a scanner can't read a ballot, voters can simply request a replacement. | Big companies hedge their risks. Now your business can too. | | For US farm, ranch and small business owners. | Airlines hedge fuel. Food companies hedge crops. For decades, protecting a business from outcomes it can't control took a broker, a trading desk and an order size most owners never had. | Kalshi opens hedging up to small businesses. Pick the outcome that would hurt you, like a fuel spike, a heat wave, a new tariff or a rate hike, and take a position on it, starting at a few dollars. If it happens, the payout offsets the hit. If it doesn't, the contract expires and the good month was the point. | A California goat herder and a Maryland tea company already do it, and CNBC, Reuters and The New York Times have covered businesses hedging on Kalshi. | Kalshi is a federally regulated exchange. | See how other owners hedge |
