Cops, canvases & a book party π Your weekend plans just got better
β
Good morning, Ross County. Turns out, the best way to serve your community is sometimes to swap the badge for a 9-iron. Local officers and deputies hit the links in Chillicothe to raise holiday shopping money for kids through Shop With A Cop β equal parts heartwarming and impressive, assuming anyone actually made par. Meanwhile, Ohio University Chillicothe is celebrating 80 years of higher education built quite literally from the ground up, by regular citizens who pooled their money and sheer stubbornness to make it happen.
On the national front, Wall Street is having a rough September β bond yields up, rate-cut dreams down. Closer to home, things are considerably more cheerful: an Autumn Paint Night, a book birthday bash, and a Walk Against Animal Cruelty are all on this week's calendar. Fresh real estate listings are inside too.

Created by community: OHIO Chillicothe celebrates 80 years
π A community bought a hilltop β and built a college on it. Ohio University Chillicothe marks 80 years since its first classes, tracing its roots to local citizens who purchased 43 acres in 1960 and raised $200,000 to convince the state legislature they were serious about higher education. Bennett Hall, the campus's first permanent building, opened thanks to those grassroots donors β their names still hang on a plaque inside. Today the 96-acre campus serves south-central Ohio through a community-led Regional Coordinating Council, carrying forward the same citizen-driven spirit that built it. Read more
