Steve's coffee shop survival story + what's next 👀
Good morning, Meigs County. September storms don't play nice — a flash flood swept through Pomeroy on the 21st, knocking out power for residents well into the next morning. Steve Dunfee found himself camped out at a local coffee shop after his all-electric home went dark, which honestly sounds like the most relatable disaster response imaginable. Officials are still urging caution around high water and debris, so keep your eyes open out there.
Meanwhile, Wall Street is having a moment — AI chip fever pushed the Nasdaq to a record close, with AMD, Meta, and Intel all riding the wave. Closer to home, the week ahead looks considerably calmer: needlework, a Texture Walk Stamp Stomp, and an Inspirational Book Club are all on deck, plus fresh local real estate listings inside.

Neighbors without power after overnight storm
⚡ Flash flooding hit Pomeroy, Ohio, leaving residents powerless and frustrated. A Sep. 21 storm swept through the town, knocking out electricity for some neighbors well into the following morning. Resident Steve Dunfee described a confusing situation where the power company sent an email saying power was restored — but it wasn't. With no generator and an all-electric home, Dunfee could only wait at a local coffee shop. Officials are urging residents to watch out for work crews, high water, and debris still on the roads.
