Good morning, Ross County. Only in Chillicothe does a Tuesday night produce both a heated city council showdown over a proposed data center *and* a burglar who fell asleep mid-crime — literally caught napping in someone else's home. Todd Bagley, we have questions. Meanwhile, a warrant service on Park Street ended with a Taser, a shed, and a suspect who ultimately decided verbal commands were persuasive enough. On the lighter side of your Wednesday, the weekend's shaping up nicely — Paint Your Fairy Door is just two days out, and Death By Chocolate on the 19th sounds like the most delicious event name of the season. Local sports scores and fresh real estate listings are tucked inside too. Let's get into it. ☕️ What's Brewing Locally Data Center Concerns Continue in Chillicothe Council 🏭 A small Ohio city is divided over a proposed data center. Chillicothe's city council took no action on Oct. 13 regarding a potential data center at the old paper mill site, but the debate grew heated. Fifth Ward Councilman Greg McKeever urged residents to trust city utility experts over social media, saying officials project little impact on local water and power. Two community members pushed back, with Dawn Zarbakhsh arguing her opposition is research-based, and Portia Boulger criticizing how council meetings are being conducted and managed. Chillicothe police responding to an active burglary call on Oct. 12 found Todd Bagley sound asleep in an upstairs bedroom of a residence on East Second Street. Officers woke him, handcuffed him without a struggle, and after he waived his Miranda rights, Bagley claimed a friend named "Chad" had shown him the property and that the back door was simply unlocked. The property owner confirmed no one had permission to be there and requested full charges. Bagley was booked into Ross County Jail on a felony burglary charge. Read more Taser Deployed During Warrant Service at Chillicothe Residence ⚡ A Taser deployment ended a backyard foot chase in Chillicothe. On Oct. 11, Chillicothe police and Ross County deputies went to 145 Park St. to serve a warrant, but suspect Thee Kuntz bolted through the backyard and hid in a shed. When Officer Kyle Curry opened the shed door, he found Kuntz crouching and reaching for something unknown, prompting him to deploy his Taser 7 — though the cartridge failed to subdue Kuntz. The suspect ultimately complied with verbal commands and was handcuffed and transported to Ross County Jail. Read more 🏆 SCOREBOARD | Date | Sport | Matchup |
