Spooky trees, upcycled crafts & a 5K with a cause 🍂
Good morning, Ross County. August's job numbers just came in at 162,000 — sturdy enough to keep Wall Street guessing about when the Fed might finally ease up on interest rates. The services sector is humming with new orders at a 3.5-year high, while manufacturing is doing its best impression of a Monday morning. Mixed signals all around, basically.
Fortunately, Ross County has better things on the agenda than fretting over producer prices. This weekend brings an Apple Taste & Cooking Demo, Budding Bookworms Storytime, and a STEAM Explorers event at the library — proof that the local calendar remains blissfully immune to Wall Street's mood swings. Fresh real estate listings are inside too, if you're in the market for something a little more tangible than economic forecasts.

🌎 What Else Is Brewing
U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis announced its annual GDP benchmark update schedule, giving economists a fresh calendar cue for the economic numbers carnival.
U.S. Labor Department said August payrolls rose by 162,000, a surprisingly sturdy reading that nudged Wall Street’s rate-cut hopes lower.
U.S. services sector posted stronger August activity, with new orders hitting a 3-1/2-year high while price pressures stayed annoyingly hot.
U.S. manufacturing sector slowed in August as new orders softened and factories kept grumbling about higher input costs.
Wall Street slipped after August producer prices and rising oil rekindled fears that the Fed may keep rates higher for longer.
U.S. unemployment claims edged up only slightly, reinforcing the picture of a labor market that is still hanging together.

"The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?"
— Psalm 27:1
This verse reminds us that with God’s presence, we have no reason to be scared of life’s challenges; He protects and guides us each day.
