Tonight's the first note πΈ β but the real surprise is what's coming...
β
Good morning, Jackson County. The Federal Reserve just raised interest rates for the first time since 2023 β and Wall Street responded the way anyone would after unexpected news: badly. The Dow shed more than 600 points, bond yields jumped, and suddenly everyone's talking about borrowing costs again. Strong retail sales in August didn't help the Fed's case for easing up, which means the inflation tug-of-war is very much still in progress.
While the markets sort themselves out, Jackson County has better things on the calendar. Jacob Tolliver brings live music on the 17th, the Travis Brown Band follows on the 22nd, and the Jackson Band closes things out on the 26th β a solid stretch of local entertainment to take the edge off. Fresh Real Estate listings are inside too.
