Floods, a housing bombshell & a circus coming to town 🎪
Good morning, Athens County. Seven state routes are underwater, the Hocking River is barreling toward a 21-foot crest, and Athens County is once again proving that Mother Nature doesn't mess around. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain turned Sunday night into a soggy mess, with Glouster, Jacksonville, and Trimble taking the hardest hits. The CDC's reminder that floodwaters are dangerous feels especially timely — stay dry out there, folks. On the housing front, that affordable project near Hooper Road has hit a wall, with developers quietly reconsidering their options.
Wall Street, meanwhile, had a banner Monday — AI enthusiasm sent the Nasdaq surging to fresh records, because nothing cheers up investors like a good chip stock rally. When the waters recede, Athens has a packed calendar ahead, including the Summer Family Concert and Gender-Affirming Fall Fest. Fresh listings are inside too.
