A life-sized Candyland exists nearby this weekend 🍬👀
Good morning, Delaware County. Justice moved swiftly here this week — a jury returned guilty verdicts on all eight counts against Modou Ngom in the fatal April crash that shook the county. Closer to the courthouse steps, a judge candidate is claiming her First Amendment rights got flagged at the Delaware County Fair, and a law firm with a winning track record on exactly these cases has entered the chat. Meanwhile, Powell's Carriage Road is inching toward reconstruction, and a possible roundabout is still very much on the table — which would be a county first.
On the national front, jobs, inflation, and energy markets all made noise before most people finished their coffee. When you're ready to decompress, Family Bingo Night kicks off Thursday, fresh listings are waiting in Real Estate, and Sports has your local scores.

Judge candidate claims Delaware County Fair blocked free speech rights
⚖️ A judge candidate says a county fair silenced her campaign. Emma Mirles-Jones, running for Delaware County Common Pleas Court judge, claims fair officials and a sheriff's deputy stopped her from distributing campaign flyers to voters on Sept. 20 at the Delaware County Fair. Sheriff's officials say the deputy politely asked her to move to a designated booth, but Mirles-Jones says she left only to avoid arrest. A law firm that previously won a similar free-speech case at an Ohio county fair has since sent a letter defending her First Amendment rights. Mirles-Jones is running against Republican Nickolas K. McCoy in a nonpartisan special election to fill a seat vacated after the prior judge retired amid misconduct allegations.
