Good morning, Delaware County. Turns out, the easiest way to get caught stealing cars is to leave your own car running at the scene — and that's exactly what six suspects did last week in Dublin. Between the idling getaway vehicle, the cloned key fob they left inside, and Flock cameras tracking their every move, it was less Ocean's Eleven and more a cautionary tale. On a far more inspiring note, Delaware County will soon honor George Meyer, a local WWII veteran whose unit helped build the Berlin Airlift's Tegel Airfield in 1948 — keeping two million people alive through sheer engineering grit. Real estate is popping, with a $1.26 million sale leading this week's transfers. Plus, Wine Wednesday, a Halloween Scream-Along, and the Daylight Artist Collective Night are all worth your weekend attention. ☕️ What's Brewing Locally Six suspected car thieves arrested after police say they left running car behind in Dublin 🚗 Car thieves foiled themselves by leaving their getaway car running. Six suspects were arrested on Oct. 2 after attempting to break into a Jeep on Wyandotte Woods Blvd. in Dublin, Ohio, then fleeing and abandoning their own running vehicle — complete with a cloned key fob inside. Dublin and Hilliard police used Flock camera technology to track the group to a gas station on Cemetery Road, where officers took all six into custody. Inside the suspects' Dodge Durango, police found car theft tools and a phone with directions to the targeted neighborhood. The Big Walnut Area Historical Society will honor Army veteran George Meyer on Oct. 13, spotlighting his role in constructing Tegel Airfield during the 1948-49 Soviet blockade of West Berlin. Meyer's unit, the 343rd Engineer General Service Regiment, helped build the airfield in Berlin's French sector — a critical hub for delivering food, coal, and medicine to over two million isolated residents. His widow Joan will display personal mementos and photographs from the 40th anniversary Berlin Airlift Reunion. The free program begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Myers Stagecoach Inn & Museum in Sunbury.
