Someone said "no" to the NDA — and now everyone's talking 👀
Good morning, Ross County. Someone in Chillicothe got handed an NDA and said, "Actually, no." The proposed data center at the old Pixelle mill site has the whole city buzzing — and not just because of the 240 jobs on the table. When half your city council gets asked to sign a nondisclosure agreement, questions tend to multiply fast. Alignment Engine held a public meeting to clear the air, but the controversy has a way of lingering.
On a more neighborly note, the Ross County Health District is bringing flu shots directly to your zip code this season — no excuses. The events calendar is equally worth your attention, with a bird-themed book launch, a free community market, and a nature prowl all coming up. Financial Friday's got a tip that might actually save you more than the market would. It's all inside.

Chillicothe demands transparency as data center details emerge amid NDA scandal

Chillicothe residents and city council members are pushing back against a proposed data center at the former Pixelle paper mill site, after a councilman was asked to sign a nondisclosure agreement during a facility tour. The company behind the project, Alignment Engine, held a public meeting on Sep. 8 to clarify that the data center would occupy just 1.3% of the 490-acre property, use self-generated power, and bring 240 jobs to the area. The NDA controversy deepened when roughly half of city council members said they'd been asked to sign one, while Alignment Engine blamed the property's security manager, U.S. Paper Mill, which has refused to comment.
